The Ghana Education Service (GES) has reopened its online portal for teachers seeking promotion to Deputy Director, Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Principal Superintendent. The initial application period, which opened on August 18, was affected by technical issues. The new application window is now open until October 2, 2025, providing eligible teachers another opportunity to apply.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified serving teachers/officers for consideration for promotion to the rank of:
a. Deputy Director
b. Assistant Director I
c. Assistant Director II
d. Principal Superintendent
QUALIFICATION
a) Deputy Director: An applicant should have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Director I in or before 2021 and should have been continuously at post since date (except for the periods of approved leave of absence).
b) Assistant Director I: An applicant should have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Director II in or before 2021 and should have been continuously at post since date (except for the periods of approved leave of absence).
2025/2026 Academic Year – Term 1: Download Lesson Plans + Scheme of Learning for First Term at a cool Ghc 10.00 Per Subject for a Class in word format (All Subjects for Basic 7 – 9)
c) Assistant Director II: An applicant should have been promoted to the rank of Principal Superintendent in or before 2021 and should have been continuously at post since date (except for the periods of approved leave of absence).
d) Principal Superintendent: An applicant should have been promoted to the rank of Senior Superintendent I in or before 2021 and should have been continuously at post since date (except for the periods of approved leave of absence). An applicant who has obtained an approved undergraduate degree will be automatically placed on this rank.
OFFICERS/TEACHERS WITH MASTER’S/PHD DEGREES
For the avoidance of doubt, applicants who wish to rely on Masters/Doctorate degrees to join the interviews out of turn should note the following:1
a) Master’s/PhD programme should be on the approved GES course of study.2
b) The Master’s/PhD certificate should not have been obtained before the previous promotion.3
c) Applica4nts who wish to use the Master’s/PhD certificate for ADI, ADII and Deputy Director promotion should have obtained their certificate in or before 2023.
MODE OF APPLICATION
- An applicant should complete the APPLICATION FORM online via https://bit.ly/GESPROMOTION25
- An applicant should upload the following documents; passport size photograph (in jpeg, jpg or png format), last promotion or appointment or upgrading letter, highest academic certificate used for applying for the promotion.
- All documents uploaded MUST be in PDF (except the passport picture) and should be clear and legible.
- Application window opens from Thursday, 11th September to Friday, 2nd October, 2025.
- ALL APPLICANTS WHO APPLIED EARLIER SHOULD RE-APPLY.
How to Apply: GES Promotion Portal Process
Navigate to the Registration Portal
· Click on the link provided.
· Click apply on promotion module.
· You will be prompted to enter staff ID, email address, and valid phone number.
· If it is your first time and do not have an Application Code, kindly click on register now to navigate to the next form for your Application Code.
· An OTP will be sent to both the phone number and the email address you provided for verification purposes.
· After verification, your Application Code will be sent to the phone number and the email address you provided.
NB: Please keep the code in a secure and easy-to-retrieve location, as it will be your identity during the process and after the process.
Registration Forms
· To start a New Application, enter Staff ID or Ghana card number and your Application Code to start the process.
· Once visited, click on start New Application to navigate to the next form.
· Click on the Application Form to continue.
· Fill in your registration details by accurately providing all necessary details on the registration form.
· You may save and continue later using your Staff ID or Ghana card number and your Application Code as your login credentials.
· After completion, review your application to make sure there are no errors, then click on SUBMIT.
· Then download the final form and keep it at a secured place.
To Retrieve Your Application ID
· Visit the link.
· Click MENU at your top right corner.
· Click on RETRIEVE CODE.
· Fill in your details and receive your Application ID via SMS.
Use your Application ID to check application status.
